1. Nicolas Potel, Beaune 1er Cru “Vigne Franches” Blanc, 2006 13% 8+/10
Nose is mineral oaky and tight with a hint of butter. palate is mid-full, oaky spicy and tropical mid palate. crisp rich oaky finish, long fine and mineral finish. it’s obviously oak, mainly new, fermented. wait in glass for another 2 hours it star to sing. it’s youthful and developing, need 3~5 years to open up.
2. Nicolas Potel, Meursault 1er Cru “Les Charmes” Blanc, 2004, 13.5% 8+/10
very mineral and ripe tropical pear apple and dry figs on the nose. rich and Meursualt buttery, texture is creamy, mid-full bodied, mineral mid palate and mid-long finish, lusciously rich and generous with subtle tropical flavor. flinty minerality nicely vibrate at the finish.
3. Nicolas Potel, Volnay 1er Cru “Pitures Dessus”, 2003, 13.5% 9/10
ruby and tint of crimson, herb cherry raspberry, rose petal, jasmin, slight stoney and smokey quality on the base. the palate is full offer of valnay-like combination of red fruit and some spiciness, though fruit is pronounced there are also leathery and grand anise picked up at the mid palate firmed and fine tannin. long cherry finish.
4. Nicolas Potel, Clos de la Roche Grand Cru, 2003, 13.5% 8+/10
dark ruby, intense black cherry red cherry and rose petal, hint of mineral, rich silky ripe and youthful, tight on palate, long black fruit finish. need minimun 5 more year to develope.
5. Nicolas Potel, Santenay 1er Cru “Beaurepaire” 1985, 13% 8/10
bright ruby, slightly cloudy. reductive at the beginning, jammy chocolate, animal predominant the nose first then some strawberry, white pepper subly waved. silky palate subtle minty intergraded, spicy finish. it’s a very high quality old vintage Santenay, but surely not Potel rich fruity style
